OB's Pub & Grill Taco Tuesday

Our random meal of the day brings us Taco Tuesday. We have for today two gigantic burrito sized tacos. I don't think that I have ever had a taco so big, let alone two of them. The front taco is steak and the back taco is chicken. Hidden beneath the leafy greens is more meat than what you get on a typical burger. We went with a group of eight and I was wondering why the majority order only one taco. I guess it was my random meal rookie mistake.

Dink's Deli Lava Cake

Our random meal of the day treat brings us a Lava Cake. The special thing about this lava cake is that if you microwave it for about thirty seconds, it will melt and flow down like lava. Since this was the first time I have ever had this, I didn't realize this fact until I actually cut the cake in half and then tried nuking it. It melted nicely into a lava like state.

American Farmhouse Grill Filet Mignon & Eggs

Our random meal of the day is another edition of breakfast for lunch. We have for today an order of Filet Mignon & Eggs. Yes that is right, Filet Mignon for breakfast or in my case lunch. The eggs are served over medium and home fries rounds up this random meal.

I still recall many lunchtime conversations with my friend in regards to steak and eggs for breakfast. He refuses to even consider eating steak for breakfast. He is perfectly fine eating steak for lunch or dinner but breakfast is off limits. Well, I wonder how he will feel when I send him this random meal?

El Pollo Loco Carne Asada Steak Tostada Salad

The Shack The Shack Cheeseburger

There is a special moment when the moon, the sun and the stars all align and you end up getting the most awesome random meal of the day. Today we have the Shack Cheeseburger. This is a classically prepared cheeseburger. You get the old school traditional toasted bun. It has been so long since I actually had the buns really toasted like this. Now the moment of enlightenment comes when you add a whole grilled Louisiana sausage on your burger. Why have I not see this addition before. Normally I can choose to add bacon but never a Louisiana sausage. My outtake on hamburger has forever changed.

Pho 87 Charbroiled Beef with Rice

Our random meal of the day brings us Charbroiled Beef with rice. This is actually one of my favorite meals. The funny thing is that I don't really remember the last time I had this. I do have a post for this exact same item more than one year ago. How is it that that I did not eat something I really enjoy for more that a year? Well, random meal of the day happened. I am aways on the hunt for something new and different. I have a daunting list of bookmarks on my Yelp account. The Charbroiled Beef with rice was actually shot with only ambient light.

Mike's Pastry Pistachio Torrone

Today's random meal of the day treat flew 3000 miles from Boston to Los Angeles. One of my coworker asked another coworker, a Boston native, to bring him back some Torrone. So this interesting looking Pistachio Torrone becomes our random meal treat. The Torrone is basically a brick of harden nougat and this one as pistachio mixed into it. It is great to be able to sample a local Boston treat from afar.

La Hacienda Ranch Sundance Fajitas

Our random meal of the day brings us some real Tex-Mex in the state of Texas. We have for today the Sundance Fajitas. This is "steak served over rice and grilled onions topped with spicy Sundance sauce." The Sundance sauce is a spicy cheesy mix.

The funny thing about this particular random meal was that we ended up in a really dark portion of the restaurant. We had over our table a bunch of what looks like big baseball sized dim Christmas like lights and a single candle on our table. When I moved the candle closer to plate, it blew out. It was just too dark for a flash less shot. Normally, I would come back some other random time and try a re shoot but since the Dallas/Fort Worth area is some 1400 miles away, I picked up my plate and placed it on an empty table that was more lit, and and quickly took the picture. All for the random meal of the day blog!

Ocean Diner Cinnamon Roll French Toast

Our random meal of the day brings us Cinnamon Roll French Toast. This is a twist on the typical french toast. We have what looks like 2 whole raisin cinnamon rolls diced in half and then battered and cooked like normal french toast. This whole concoction is then topped with powdered sugar. The one thing that would have put the random meal over the top would be some frosting!

Taco Bell CrunchWrap Supreme

Our random meal brings us a CrunchWrap Supreme. This is almost like a taco and a burrito combined into one. It starts with a flour tortilla, then you stuff it with a flat taco shell. Joey's Smokin BBQ Southern Sliders v2.0

Our random meal of the day brings us version 2.0 of the Southern Sliders. Boston Market Roasted Turkey & Swiss Carver

Our random meal brings us a Roasted Turkey & Swiss Carver sandwich. I remember having my first carver sandwich many years ago. It was actually at that time, one of the better sandwiches that I had. Fast forward too many years to count and today's variation of the sandwich is still good. I asked for the sauce on the side and the Swiss cheese took that opportunity and decided to go on an adventure and never arrived in my sandwich.

Ikea Swedish Meatballs

Our random meal of the day is Swedish Meatballs. Funny thing about shopping during lunchtime is that you can get hungry really quickly. The thing about Ikea is that they strategically place the food right at the end of the 2nd floor tour. When you finish walking around the gigantic store and you see some wonderful photographs of food, you tend to take a pit stop. I ended up adding some extra Swedish Meatballs to my random meal.

Robin's Fabulous Wild Maine Blueberry Cornbread

Our random meal of the day treat brings us some fabulous wild Maine Blueberry Cornbread with blueberry butter. This actually came with our BBQ meal that was posted yesterday but we ordered some extra and it became today's dessert. Robin's Wood Fire BBQ Garbage Can Combo

Our random meal of the day brings us the Garbage Can Combo. This is barbecue served on top of an old school metal garbage can lid. The lid is about a foot wide. I believe this could actually serve 4 people and everyone will be full. We actually ordered 2 of the Garbage Can Combo!

The combo starts with a half rack of baby back ribs and then 2 spare ribs added for the pork portion. We then get to enjoy 2 humongous beef ribs and enough tri tip steak to make a couple of nice sandwiches. That's the beef potion. We then get a BBQ sausage hot link and a half BBQ chicken. Sometimes your eyes are bigger than your stomach.

I can actually pick up the udon with my chopsticks without it sliding right off.

The Chicken Shack Shack Sandwich

Today our random meal is the Shack Sandwich. The is a simple sandwich that just seems to work. We start with perfectly prepared shredded chicken and then lettuce and tomatoes are added to a hot roll. The signature Yellow Sauce is then coated on the chicken. The yellow sauce is made with "Aji Amarillo" a Peruvian Yellow Chile Pepper. It really is the sauce that makes the sandwich. This special yellow sauce leaves a lingering burn. The only disappointment is not seeing the "Shackmobile".
